Dear all, it has been an extraordinary year for NBTS – with our production Den Omättliga Vägen at Dramaten, bringing to life the world of Booker Prize Winner Ben Okri. This production brought together a diverse team of designers, technicians and the whole community. It was designed by Lotta Nilsson and the brilliant visuals of Lamin Jadama. The main stage set brought together the first and largest ensemble of African descent in the theatre’s history. Aurelia Dey choreographed the play, and Kalere A Payton designed the amazing costumes.
It was significant, challenging and inspiring and drew many audiences from all backgrounds, especially our Afro-Swedish Community. Uniquely it also introduced our Community choir – comprised of people of African descent, to our stage. We are thankful for all the creative team, the actors, Dramaten’s ensemble, Freelance, and the public who came to support us.
NEXT SEASON
We are now planning our next season and will focus on the development of new plays with Dramaten and associated partners in the UK and US, and Nordic Countries 2023 – 2025. In the first instance, this project will support community artists. We are, of course, also already deep in preparation for our next production.
