National Black Theatre of Sweden
The National Black Theatre of Sweden is part of a long history Afro Swedish artists and presence within Swedish history. A history that is often erased or unrecognised. Afro Swedish cultural presence started over 100 years ago from associations, Afro Swedish artists, writers, actors and cultural workers.
We are part of a journey. An African journey.
NBTS was created to give a consistent platform to African and Afro-Swedish plays, stories and African descent artists.
NBTS creates work. Invites co-production, presents international African work and develops stage performances and offers traineeship in Afro Swedish producers, directors and designers.
We develop, inspire, remember who we were and determine who we are, we prosper and walk in the light of our ancestors.
