Every year The National Black Theatre of Sweden remembers the African persons, freed from slavery under Swedish rule in 1847. It commemorates ‘the door’ through which enslaved Africans passed. Held in bondage, until they were forced upon ships that would divide them as families, children, communities from each other to experience a life of violence and servitude.

The event strives to affirm this is a place we will never return to – a door that we will never go through again. This year is Legacy remembering all who made NBTS – those who came before and those to come. This is a family event.
